Software group Iona has bought privately-held US technology company LogicBlaze for an undisclosed sum.
LogicBlaze specialises in providing systems based on open source technologies. Open source technology is made available free to other users, who can collaborate on its development.
Iona says the company's workers are respected experts in the open source community and are key contributors to some of its main projects.
LogicBlaze generates revenue from subscriptions, training and consultancy. Iona said the deal's impact on revenue was 'not significant at this point', but it was optimistic about its growth opportunities.
