Thousands of people took part in a rally in Dublin this afternoon in support of Palestinians and against Israel's military actions in Gaza.

The rally began at 1pm at the Garden of Remembrance and travelled to Merrion Square.

The march included political parties, campaign groups and individuals, including those from the Palestinian community.

A similar march last Saturday also saw several thousand people travel from O'Connell Street to Shelbourne Road which is the location of the Israeli embassy.

Gaza has been blockaded and bombarded by Israel after its Hamas rulers launched a series of terrorist raids on 7 October.

Today, the Rafah border crossing with Egypt was opened to let aid flow to Palestinians running short of food, medicine and water in Gaza.

Around 1,000 people attended a march and rally in Cork this afternoon in support of the people of Gaza and calling for a ceasefire there.

The event was organised by the Cork Palestine Solidarity Campaign.

Speakers were drawn from a number of political, civic and trade union groups. Many called on the international community to intervene to organise peace talks.

A minute's silence also took place, before those involved marched through Patrick's Street and the city centre.

It was the second of three weekly demonstrations organised by the campaign.
