It is reported that Pat Evans' (Pam St Clement) exit storyline will be one of the biggest tearjerkers in EastEnders history.
Warning: Spoiler Alert!
The Sun reports that the much-loved character will die alone from cancer.
Pat learns she is terminally ill as Christmas approaches but does not tell anyone straight away.
Instead, she organises a party for her family and friends at the Queen Vic, with sons David and Simon Wicks (Michael French and Nick Berry) in attendance.
There, she announces she is dying and tells her guests not to be upset and to celebrate her life.
She then goes home and dies in bed.
An EastEnders source said: "Millions of fans will be blubbing as one of the soap's all-time favourite characters makes a hugely emotional exit.
"There was no way bosses wanted Pat to sign off with a grisly death. It was always going to be a dignified farewell in which colleagues and viewers could raise a glass to her."
