American actor Marlon Brando has died at the age of 80.
Brando, who had been ill for some time, was regarded as one of the pivotal actors of the post-war period.
The Hollywood star, who starred in more than 40 films, passed away in a Los Angeles hospital.
He won Oscars for his roles in On the Waterfront and for his most famous role as Mafia leader Don Corleone in the 1972 classic, The Godfather.
