Five men have been charged as part of a garda operation targeting an organised crime group in west Dublin.
They will appear before a special sitting of the Criminal Court in Dublin tonight.
A house suspected of being the location where the man was held against his will was sealed off as a crime scene and forensically examined.
A woman in her 30s, who was also arrested in connection with the investigation, was later released without charge.
