Drugs, contraband and counterfeit goods worth more than €440,000 have been seized during Revenue operations around the country.

More than 16.5kg of herbal cannabis, with an estimated value of around €331,200, and various illicit drugs, worth over €18,250 were seized, during separate operations in Dublin, Rosslare Europort and Shannon Airport.

The drugs were discovered with the assistance of detector dogs Sam, Ciara and Jasper.

Separately, 23,200 cigarettes and 4.5kg of tobacco worth almost €23,500, which arrived in Ireland from the UK, US, Mexico, Canada, France, Poland, the Netherlands and Canada, were destined for addresses nationwide.

Among 183 counterfeit items worth around around €68,000 which were seized, were goods branded as Uggs, North Face and Gucci.

Meanwhile, over 76 litres worth of alcohol worth over €960 was seized in the midlands and at Rosslare Europort.

Numerous weapons, including stun guns, smoke bombs and flares, have also been seized in these areas.

Investigations into all of the seizures are ongoing.

Revenue said in a statement that the seizures were part of "ongoing operations targeting smuggling and shadow economy activity".
