A file has been sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions after a man in his 50s was arrested and released without charge over the attempted murder of Charles Dooher in Lifford, Co Donegal in January.

Mr Dooher, who is in his 20s, was critically injured following an assault at his home shortly after 10am on Monday 20 January.

He and his father were at home when a gang of masked men with iron bars entered their home in broad daylight and attacked them.

Mr Dooher was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
