Truck driver wins Irvine's Jaguar R3

A British truck driver has become the proud new owner of Eddie Irvine's Jaguar Formula One race car. Jaguar and Sky television said Adrian Dawn had won the Ulsterman's R3 in a competition after beating 16 finalists at the team's factory on Friday.

"I was shaking and it took ages to register that it was mine," the 32-year-old said after being presented with the car and the ultimate parking problem by three times world champion Jackie Stewart. He added: "I am both an Eddie Irvine and Jaguar fan and to have won his car from this season is beyond my wildest dreams. I am used to delivering car parts by trade and to now take delivery of this, is something special."

Niki Lauda, Jaguar Racing team boss, said the car had been raced at several grands prix this season including Britain, Monaco, Austria, Canada and Germany.

"How much is it worth? It costs millions of pounds to design, develop and engineer an F1 car, so work it out," said the Austrian former champion in a statement. "It is truly a priceless prize."
